Ministries Our Vision
To build an effective ministry for the Master that exemplifies and specifies the essence of Christ, not cognizant of classes; but, meets the needs of the masses through persistent prayer; a consistent Christ, and an ever present preached "Word." To build a relevant, reliable, and real ministry that is diversified in its congregational aspect, historical in its retrospect, and far-reaching in its prospect. Finally, a "come as you are ministry,"for the perfecting of the saints. Executing the work of the ministry till we all come in the unity of the faith and knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man measuring of the stature of the fullness of Christ... Our Meaning
The emblem is the "Olive Branch." Since we are Mt. Olive, our meaning is derived from the olive tree. The Dove plucked the leaf when the flood was subsiding (Gen. 8:11); an olive branch is now an emblem of peace. The olive was also a symbol of prosperity and divine blessing, of beauty and strength (Psalm 52:8; Jeremiah 11:16; Hosea 14:6). The aged olive tree is often surrounded by young and thrifty shoots (Psalm 128:3). Women sometimes adorned themselves with garlands of olives on festival occasions and at the Olympic games in Greece the victor's crown was of olive leaves. The olive leaf is green, green is the color of continual growth, where there is growth, there is life. Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church is alive and well. |
